These images were taken over the course of a month in the summer of 2022. I soaked film rolls in natural water from areas I photographed, including Taylor Creek in Zion National Park, and the small creek that ran through my campsite outside of a town in Nevada. The effect of natural substances on the chemically-developed image ties the image to its entire environment — the river shown, the sediment that flows down the river to that spot, the fish that disturbs sediment as it swims downstream. Emulsion erodes into canyons and riverbeds. Nature eats image.
