In December 2021 I received a grant through the IU Council of Arts and Humanities to travel to Big Bend to photograph the landscape and work on my film soaks. Painter Meris Drew and I camped and explored Terlingua and Big Bend for 10 days. I was especially interested in looking at the way we experience different kinds of spaces, such as canyons or forests. Big Bend held many different and exciting landscapes. I buried some film rolls in the ground, gathered natural water and soaked some rolls in water and dirt. The effect of the soaks both pair with memories of the place as well as give them a new direction.
